The Frax1550 laser (also known as Fraxel) is a non-ablative fractionated resurfacing laser. This is a powerful laser used to treat:
*Fine Lines and Wrinkles
*Improve Skin Tone and Texture
*Treat Sun Damage including Sun Spots and Pre Skin Cancers
*Treat Acne Scars
*Treat other Scars and Stretch Marks
*Treat Skin Pigmentation
The Frax1550 is a great non-surgical treatment to reverse signs of aging and keep your skin looking youthful and healthy. It works by creating controlled thermal(heat) injury in the skin which promotes a healing response that leads to new collagen production improving the color, tone and texture of the skin. Metal eye shields can be placed on the globe of your eye to safely treat the eyelids and periocular skin. This results in tightening the eyelid skin and reducing wrinkles around the eyes. Numbing medicine is placed on the skin 20-30minutes prior to treatment. During treatment you will feel heat from the laser and some mild discomfort, although the numbing reduces this significantly. The power of the laser can be modified if needed throughout the treatment and cool air helps with any discomfort. Multiple passes are performed to achieve the desired results. The procedure takes about 20-30minutes and is then followed by cool compresses, emollient and sunscreen. In general, following the procedure your skin will be red and swollen. The redness can last up to 1 week but improves daily and can be covered with makeup after the first couple of days. The swelling is most noticeable in the first 2-3 days. It is best to plan on at least 2-3 days of down time after this procedure. PRP (platelet rich plasma) can be added to this procedure to further maximize new collagen remodeling and hasten healing. Although visible results are obtained with a single treatment, some patients will do 1-3 treatments initially depending upon degree of collagen remodeling needed. Treatments are spaced about 1 month apart. Once the desired results are achieved we recommend treatment once annually for maintenance. The end result can take 3-6 months to fully appreciate.
